• The historical background of search  and rescue in Egypt ESARC establishes it as one of the oldest systems in both the Middle east and Africa .Since the forties of the last century until 1983, search and rescue has played an outstanding role in successive periods of time.

• The presidential decree No.300 of 1983 was issued stating the following:

1- establishing the search and rescue center and it's branches under the Egyptian Ministry of Defense.

2- Establishing the joint Rescue coordination Center (JRCC) in Cairo under the main search and rescue center.

3- Establishing search and rescue committee presided by the center manager and The committee members representing the Ministries of foreign affairs ,health , transportation & communications , civil aviation and social affairs.

• The search and rescue committee is assigned to coordinate polices and consolidate efforts for the upgrading and modernization of search and rescue services in Egypt.
